News from our Verifying Organisations and Stakeholders

Let the Quality Mark set you apart

The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) have launched a campaign to encourage practitioners on their Accredited Registers (including the one held by CNHC) to display the Quality Mark. Displaying the Quality Mark tells your audiences that you are a healthcare practitioner committed to delivering quality care and is great way to signpost the public to your services.

The PSA have produced a guide and social media assets for registrants to use. You can request the Quality Mark to display, the PSA’s guide to to using the Quality Mark and accompanying social media assets here.

New members of our Aromatherapy and Massage Therapy PSBs

CNHC has a Profession Specific Board (PSB) for each of the eighteen professions it registers, who provide advice to the CNHC Board about therapy-specific issues. Our PSBs are a key element of CNHC’s structure.

We welcomed three new PSA members this month :

  • Ka Man Cheung (Aromatherapy)
  • Margaret O’Hagan (Aromatherapy)
  • Gemma Eves (Massage Therapy).

Making sure you comply with the law on advertising and the treatment of cancer

As a CNHC registrant, you may be practising therapies which are used by those receiving treatment for cancer. It is therefore imperative that you familiarise yourself with the provisions of the Cancer Act 1939 and take care to ensure that your advertising complies with the law.

We have updated our Guidance on the Cancer Act 1939 with details of information published by Cancer Research UK and advise our registrants to read it carefully.

Changes to the CNHC Board

Welcome to Michael Lupson

We are delighted to announce that Michael Lupson joined the CNHC Board as a Lay Member in August.

Michael has a wealth of experience of regulation. He is a Lay Case Examiner at Social Work England, sits on the Independent Decision-Making Body of the Bar Standards Board, on the Investigating Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and on the Disciplinary Tribunal for the regulator of Chartered Legal Executives. As a keen runner, Michael has utilised complementary healthcare to keep him on the road, so has first-hand experience of the impact that accessing such care has on people’s lives. He recognises the hugely important role that the CNHC plays in protecting the public and upholding public confidence in complementary healthcare.

Farewell to Tara Willmott

The CNHC Board and staff team thank departing Lay Board Member, Tara Willmott, for her dedication and the huge contribution she has made to CNHC during her five-year term that came to an end on 2 September 2024. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
